Final Race of 2008

We raced at Kimbolton this weekend for the final race of 2008 and had one of our best weekends of the year. Practice all day Saturday went well and James was on the pace in every session.

Sunday morning was wet and James finished morning practice 2nd quickest out of the 33 Cadets. He then had his best three heats all year with an 8th, 7th and 3rd place finish from 20th, 16th and 6th on the Grid. Qualifying 6th for the final.

After an accident at Kimboltons infamous first corner James dropped to around 20th place and had to get out of the Kart to pull it from the tyres and drove back to 15th place.

James said there was nothing he could have done to avoid the crash with a kart spinning and slamming him into the tyre wall. Even after this James was pleased with his weekend and felt he deserved to be at the sharp end of the grid at last. With a couple of weeks off for Christmas he is now looking forward to returning in 2009 to PFI in January.

We would like to thank all the people who have helped us this year especially Sean Pitts of Pitts Racing who has supplied us with some great engines all year. We are staying with Sean for engines next year although we are looking at moving to a bigger team for next season. Sean will continue to work with us alongside the new team.

When we have finalised details for next season we will let you all know.

Looking to 2009

James will continue to race for the next few months at various club races around the country preparing for the year ahead.

Even with the problems we have experienced this year James has enjoyed his first year at National Level and is looking forward to progressing  further next year.

When we have made our decisions on next years Racing we will let you all know.

Stars and Super 1

16.06.08

As with many teams and Dads this year we are having a difficult time adapting to the new Tryton control carb.

This was introduced at the beginning of the year to eradicate the problem of "sorted" Tillotsons changing hands for large sums of money. The first three rounds of Super 1 and four rounds of Stars Of Tomorrow have been a lottery with many Cadets not finishing or even starting races due to the inconsistent performance of the Trytons.

As I write this we had our best weekend to date with James Qualifying 17th in the Final at Rowrah during last weekends Super 1. The start of the final was business as usual however, with the Tryton dumping on the grid. So after a few frantic minutes with some helpful dads rushing round we got it started and he joined the back of the grid. He eventually made his way to 20th place, a shame after three reasonable heats.

Many Cadets have dropped out of the series this year either moving up to Minimax or making the switch to Honda or WTP. I hope the MSA and ZIP manage to solve the current problems all the teams are suffering and we can finish the season on a high.
