Second Trophy in 3 weeks! (18.10.05)

Following James' result at Red Lodge two weeks ago we visited Wildtracks with new enthusiasm and confidence this weekend and had a good days practice on Saturday followed by a another third place on Sunday.

This was the first race at Wildtracks since the new people took over. It was a disapointingly low turn out but hopefully this will improve as time goes on.

James had three good heats and continued his 100% record of finishing heats and finals.

With a hurried engine change between heats 2 and 3 after problems in Heat 2, James started 2nd, losing this position at the first corner and never being able to make it back. After an attempted move up the inside into the hairpin on lap 3 resulted in a spin James was never going to make up the time. He was praised by his team for trying to overtake rather than simply following the slower kart in front for the duration of the race.

James managed to keep consistent lap times throughout the day improving on his previous best by nearly 2 tenths.

He was disapointed in losing the position at the start as he was faster than the kart in front all day and was sure he could have held on for second place.

He would like to thank Di and Leon at Soixante for their continued support this weekend.

First Trophy won at Red Lodge. (01.10.05)

Our visit to Red Lodge on Saturday proved to be our best yet with James finishing third in the Final and collecting his first well earned Trophy.

After qualifying fourth and driving well in all three heats the final started in overcast conditions. We were one of two Karts on the grid opting for a wet set up as it had rained 10 minutes before the final and the weather didn't look good. After 5 laps it looked as if the gamble hadn't paid off with James starting to lose ground on overheating tyres. Then the clouds gave way and the rain started to fall, much to the delight of at least two people in the pit lane.

As the leaders slid off in all directions James kept his nerve and came through to finish third to the cheers of his soaked team. When asked if he knew where he had finished James said "I knew I was somewhere up the front but with so many people spinning off I was just making sure I missed them all !"

We are going to Wildtracks next weekend (16 Oct) with renewed confidence to see if we can follow up with more of the same.

James Fractures Arm at PFI !! (23.07.05)PFI Karting Cadet

We visited PFI on Saturday 23rd July to continue practicing for James' first competitive race in May next year. We had a great day with James reducing his Lap times from 1.02.20 to 57.50. The weather was nice with some sunshine and it stayed warm throughout the day.

James drove really well improving his lines, with his times dropping all day. With 2 sessions to go he was overtaken by another Cadet across the start finish line and when the Cadet cut back in front of him he caught the front wheel of James' Kart which spun him onto the grass. When he spun back onto the track the tyres gripped and James fell onto the sidepod. His left hand came off the steering wheel and he somehow managed to run over it with his back wheel !!

He has to wear a cast for 4 weeks and rest for a further 2 weeks before he can drive again. He didn't blame the other Cadet for the spin saying it was just one of those things but he did say it would have been nice if he had come and asked how he was.

James is looking forward to his return to Karting which will hopefully be at Redlodge on September 3rd.

James at PFI (19.05.05)

On Saturday the 21st May James is travelling up to PFI for his first drive at the country's best Kart Circuit. When he reaches 8 years old James will enter the PFI Club Championship and recognises that the country's top drivers race here. " If you want to make your mark in Karting you have to race the best" says Paul, James' Dad. " We want to race Stars and Super One in a couple of years and these are the drivers and teams we will have to beat."

James to Race at Wild Tracks (01.05.05)

Starting on the 14th May, James will race at Wild Tracks. He has been practising here over the last few weeks and has achieved a lap time within 2 seconds of the Cadet lap record. James really enjoys Wild Tracks and says, " Its really grippy, a fast track and I really enjoy racing here"  Watch the results section to see how James gets on.

James to race at Red Lodge (01.05.05)

James will race in the summer championship at Red Lodge. The Non MSA Track allow 7 year old drivers to compete. He will race his Zip Puma with Comer W60 engines. He is looking forward to racing here and says, " Its very slippery but I am getting quicker!"  James' team feel that by racing at Red Lodge James will learn more by racing than just practising on deserted circuits.
