First round of Super 1. (23.03.09)

We visited PFI near Grantham this weekend for the first round of the 2009 British Cadet Kart Championship. It was the first weekend with the complete Zip Team and the first outing for the all new ZIP Young Guns awning.

After a good days testing on Friday James went into timed Qualifying on Saturday with confidence and a plan of attack. With TJ In the second Qualifying group the plan altered slightly and after the Kart failed to start on the grid the plan went out of the window. James made it into Timed Qualifying and once on the track set the 20th quickest time, his fastest of the weekend. This gave James 2 13th place starts in the heats. A 15th and a 13th in the 2 heats gave James a 21st place start in the Pre Final. A great drive saw him climb to 17th in the Prefinal and 13th in the Grand Final. This gives him 16th position in the Super 1 Championship overall.

With the team pleased with the first round and James' effort overall we look forward to the next round at Shenington in April.

We are very pleased to announce that James has joined the Young Guns team for 2009. After a few test days with the team and discussions going back to November 2008 the decision was made to Race with Zip in Super 1 and Formula Kart Stars this year.

He will be joining team mate T J Nelson and under the watchful eye of Martin Hines, Luke Hines and Darron Gibbs we are hoping that this year will be a great year with James continuing to improve on his run of improved results at the end of 2008.

With the history surrounding the Young Guns and the success they have achieved in the past we are really proud to be involved with the team and look forward to the challenges ahead.
